24 degrees and ice cream.....

So yesterday afternoon my husband said to me, "I'm hungry for chocolate ice cream" so we hopped into the very cold car and headed out into the 24 degree weather to get ice cream. We are insane, I know. The day was so bright and the sky so blue, a perfect winter day with the sun hinting of warmer days to come. Now if only that groundhog would fully cooperate and NOT see his shadow, things will be great!

We stopped at the lake and I jumped out of the car, took a quick brisk walk and got a showt of a few crazy ice fishermen! Brrrrrrr, I've been ice fishing before and I'll tell you that it's a lot warmer when you are sitting inside of one of those little blue huts rather than a bucket on the ice in the wind.

I adore this little school house. I think it would make a great studio.

We saw a flock of wild turkeys directly across the road from the school house. Gary took a pretty good shot out of the car window!

Lastly we swung around to the docks where we keep our pontoon during the spring and summer......ahhhhh wishful thinking.......only 3 more months! The tall moorings look like sentinels in the icy waters.
By the way, the ice cream was delish!

This is my new batch of birdie collage pendants. You can find them at the Honey Girl Studio Jewelry Shop.

I created this necklace last night using one of the collage pendants as a focal pendant. It has been created with bronze/blue glass beads, blue mat seed beads, eggshell seed beads, mountain jasper beads and fabric beads with book text on them (I made these and will be posting a tutorial soon on how to make them).

I got all of these luscious beads from Let It Bead in Greenville, Pa. (141 Main Street Greenville, PA 16125-2276(724) 588-1258). It's a wonderful little bead shop with a super friendly owner named Kris and her two darling wiener dogs. You can buy already made beautiful earrings and necklaces or you can pick out beads and make your own right there. Kris is more than willing to show you how to connect the findings and help you with your beading.
Whew! That was a long post sisters! Don't forget to slide on down to the previous post to sign up for the One World One Heart giveaway.

New Pendants on Ebay!

I've been hard at work in the Honey Girl Studio! Spring is springing and my thoughts and colors are turning to the pastels! The pendants pictured below will be listed on Ebay starting on March 21st. You can find them by typing in "collage art jewelry" in the search box on the Ebay website. I hope they all get a good loving home! Each one is a mini collage made of small pieces of vintage inspired paper and photos which is then encased in glass and soldered around the edge with a jump-ring soldered to the top to wear it as a pendant or to hang as an ornament. You are actually getting 2 pendants in one because there is a collage on the flip side also. Each one is a one of a kind and completely handmade from the inside out! They measure 1inch wide by 3 inches long. Choose from

This one reminds me of......

As I cut out the children for these mini collages, certain kids remind me of the young version of people I know or have known. For example the little girl from the "uncooperative" pendant reminds me of a person I used to work with.......she was as cute as a button but as uncooperative as a badger in a bubble bath! Then there is the "Laugh" pendant with the sour faced little girl......what a pickle puss! She reminds me of a younger version of an aunt! Maybe the people who remind me of these vintage kids are reincarnations of the vintage children.....hmmmmmm....something to think about. Today was a very trying day at work and as I rehash the events of the day I can't help but think of the saying on the front of the "Fondue Chef" pendant (chocolate fondue recipe)...."What a wonderous life this is I lead!" And it is, the ups- the downs, the conceited egocentric maniacs you encounter, the salt-of-the-earth decent people, they all defintely make life interesting. The beauty of it is, when I get sick of everything, I can escape to my studio and spend time with my paper, glue and solder, crank up the iPod and get lost in creating! Sometimes I have a hard time understanding people but I can always understand colors, composition and design! Enjoy the pictures of the pendants with the vintage children, they might remind you of someone you know!

Mini Collages

Bigger is not necessarily better, especially when it comes to collages. I've been experimenting with mini collages. Tiny 1 inch wide by 3 inches tall collages with vintage photos and layers of colorful paper. I've been inspired by the wonderful spring colors.....pale yellows, you know the color of watered down sunlight, liliacs.....mmmmmm, I can almost smell them and robin egg blues and the palest of the delicate pinks like the color of dogwood blossoms. Throw all of these beautiful decorative papers together with a little imagination, whimsical vintage photos of children, a touch of solder, thin pieces of glass and you've got yourself a wearable piece of art! They are two sided with the front being a collaged picture and the back having a cute little saying. I'm thinking about posting them of Ebay. Let me know what you all think of them out there in blogland. I'd love to get your feedback!
