Tiny Book Necklaces......

I made little book necklaces last summer but made them so they stood up and could be opened, however I saw a similar idea on Pintrest with putting the headpin straight through the book to make a necklace and I really liked it.  I just had to make some.........

Book of the Sea necklace.......

The Book of the Pebbled Beach........

The Book of Sunset Beach.......

The Book of White Shell Beach......

This shows the size of the books. They are 1 inch by 1 inch........ yep, that's my very wrinkled hand!  A palm reader would have ball reading all of my lines!

Junk on a Chain

Hi there! I'm back after a month and a half off from blogging and crafting.  How's everybody doing?  It's snowing here in Pennsylvania and cold and blustery but spring is just around the corner.

I've been working on new jewelry designs over the past few days and have also been gathering inspiration from Pintrest.  Have you been on Pintrest?  Oh my, it's like internet crack for the ADD person!   Anywho, here is my February Junk on a Chain which I'm sending to my niece AJ as a belated b-day gift.

This necklace has leather, plastic, buttons, acrylic, shells, glass beads, metal, shrinky-dinks, Scrabble tiles, coral, fabric bead.......I told you it was junk on a chain!
I tried it on to see if it was even (there are 26 charms) and I had on a leaf green turtle neck and it looked pretty good with that color.  Hope you like it AJ!

This is my Black and White Junk on a Chain which I just put in the shop over at

I'll be adding more items to the shop in the coming days and weeks.  :-)M

The Key to......

Well, here are a few things I made with my flea market keys!  I drilled holes in this one to make room for jump rings to dangle charms.  It helps to have a drill press as it makes drilling the holes a breeze.  It lays really nice on the neck right at the collar bone notch.  The trick is to get it even on both ends so that it will lay correctly.  I have so many other ideas for using keys in necklaces!

Still in deep like with the shrink plastic for the Inkjet printer......that's how I made Talula Blooingdocker on the key below.  Both keys are over at Honey Girl Studio Jewelry.  When I was about 3 years old  I had a doll I named LauraMay Bloomingdocker.....where I got that name from I have no idea!  So, I stole the name from myself to name this necklace......this is LauraMay's sister, Talulu.

Hippy Luv Jewelry Line.......

I've added several new categories to my Summer 2011 jewelry line.  Here is a peek at a few pieces of the  "Hippy Luv" line.  It has a hippy/organic feel to it.  I've used a lot of leather and wood in these pieces. You can check them out at the Honey Girl Studio Jewelry Shop.

An original bead created in Photoshop with component elements.  The heart is painted/distressed leather.  Her name was Simone and she lived in the heart of the artist area of Paris!

New Jewelry, ICE Resin, Conneaut Ohio and Flowers

Ok, I'm going to cover a variety of "stuff" today in this posting.........
First I'd like to thank my dear friend Tracey over at Glitterbug Studios for creating my new fantastic banner. She really knows my artistic eye and picked the perfect things to put into the banner. Thanks little sista!

Gary and I went to Conneaut Ohio to Lake Erie yesterday. It was a beautiful day! This is a picture of the little light house in the harbor. We had lunch at the White Turkey Drive-In in Conneaut. It's my favorite place to eat there. They have the best turkey sandwiches and the rootbeer is served in frosted heavy glass mugs. There's Gary sitting on the right up against the wall.

On the way out of Conneaut there is this old building. I think at one time it was a gas station. How stinkin' cute is it!?!?!? I think it would make a great studio!

I wanted to show you my Clematis. They did very well this year. Of course earlier in the spring I juiced them with a little Miracle Grow. This is the one on the back porch.........

This is the one on one side of the front porch......

This is the one on the other side of the front porch........

This pot is on my mom's patio and her flowers are pretty fabulous this summer. I joke with her that watering them really does work! Martha Steward would love the white schmootz on the bottom of the pot but mom can't stand it.

Ok, now on to jewelry. In the past few days I've had a creativity infusion.....lots of ideas swirling around in my noggin! This is a custom order. The butterfly in the center is a Scrabble tile.

A few weeks ago, when the humidity was low, I tried out ICE Resin and I absolutely LOVE IT! It's so easy to use and I got no bubbles what so ever. The inside of the bezel with the sailor girl has the ICE resin on the inside. Don't you just love her cool, fierce look? The necklace is coral chips and shell chips. Click HERE to find these necklaces over at Honey Girl Studio Jewelry.
This is another custom piece I did, again with the ICE resin. It's sooooo clear and smooth!

Handmade fabric beads with batik fabric and and sewn fabric cording make this larger shell necklace very unique. You can find all of following necklaces at Honey Girl Studio Jewelry.
This sweet little leather pendant bird has two charms dangling from it by the wing but they flipped behind it when I took the pic!

Since I'm going to be harvesting about 3,000 egglants over the next few weeks in my garden, I was inpired by the deep purple color when I created this necklace.
Hand sewn light blue seed beads adorn this fabric necklace with echos of the sea dangling from the center.

Oh how I love this necklace! It reminds me of the deep shade you seek from the lush trees in hot, hot summertime.
Whew! That's all for now. Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

A Bird In The.......

How does that saying go? "A bird on a necklace is worth one in a boxwood shrub?" Ok, well not exactly like that but that's the one I'm going with for this post! It is part of my breezy summertime fair as we are nearing the summer solstice (which I will have an amazing necklace give-away on June 21st so please stop by to enter) and celebrate the beginning of summertime.
This necklace is 17 inches long. It is composed of 3 strands: handmade fabric cord, glass beaded strand and cotton strand with blue shell discs. The bird is leather with a wonderful blue shimmer reminiscent of the hazy blue summertime July afternoons. You can purchase it over at Honey Girl Studio Jewelry.

Oh Sweet Pea.......

Nothing says early summer like a big bowl of fresh from the garden sweet peas. My mom always made creamed peas over mashed potatoes and it's still my favorite way of having them this time of year. My Italian husband thinks it's disgusting but if you're Irish you'll understand how we like to "cream" things! So these early summer peas inspired me and the result is this necklace I made today.......
2 Peas in a Pod Necklace
The peas are pale green glass pearls in a handcut, formed and painted leather pod. The necklace is two strands: one of tiny green seed beads and the other is a green and white print fabric cord. The necklace measures 16 inches long. This piece is available so hop on over to Honey Girl Studio Jewelry!

A Big Pile of?

What is she up to now? Well, I've been sewing up cord for my "Beachy Bohemian" line of jewelry. The hearts are leather which have been painted and/or stamped. I'll be launching the new line on my jewelry website, Honey Girl Studio Jewelry on June 14th! So stop by!

Holly Jolly.....

A new batch of Holiday Pendants you can find at Jingle All The Way Home!

I thought I'd try a Catherine Holman inspired painting on this little school chair. I encourage you to stop by her blog. Cathie creates the most wonderful paintings of houses that make you want to climb right into the painting, knock on the door of the house and go inside for a cup of hot chocolate. I often leave comments that I'd like to live in many of her paintings!

Here is my theory why so many children have learning problems these days.....the chairs are just too darn comfortable. This one is from the 1960s and you'd find them in just about every public school in the country. They were hard and uncomfortable and you set in them from the time you were in first grade until you graduated. So my theory is that when the chair is uncomfortable you focus more on learning to forget about your numb butt that has been glued to the hard chair for 6.5 hours!

I'm convinced that this is what snowmen do at night when we are all asleep......they have snowball fights and play snowball fetch with their snowdog. Yes, that's what I believe!
Hope you all had a terrific Sunday! Wishing you a great Monday (well, as great as any Monday can be).
