Let's Snowshoe in the Winter Beauty

Hey there! I'm going to take you on a virtual snowshoeing trip today in beautiful Northwestern Pennsylvania! I went out around 12:30 today at my parent's farm with their dog Buddy. You've met Buddy the wonder dog before in previous posts. These are my Tubbs snowshoes, they're light weight and very comfortable to wear. I've had them for about 13 years now.
How cool is this shot? That's my bulky shadow (3 layers and a coat)! It's like the invisible snowshoer!
First we are going to head over the pasture to the woods.

Let's cut up the fence row.......

Don't these snow covered weeds look like flowers?

And here's Buddy wearing his winter coat!

Let's cross over this little stream........

Oh! Look up! The trees look frosted.

And I .....I took the path less traveled......
Ok, now we're heading back up to toward the barn.

Look! The sun came out and warmed things up to about 23 degrees! It actually felt warmer than that. I haven't seen the sun in more than a week.

Let's start to head home now.

Back up the front field to the house and water.....we were both pretty thirsty.
We made it! Buddy's tired.......me too!

This is a little milk house that's across from where I get my hair colored. I had to snap a pic.

This is what I made the other night. I guess you would call it crafting green because this little mitten box is made out of.............
a clementine orange crate!

Other side view.....
back view.........

I painted it with gesso then a coat of light ivory acrylic. Next, I collaged on cardstock and decorative papers. I used a paper punch for the snowflakes and buttons. Hope you all had great Saturday!

It Snowed! It Snowed!

We didn't get wacked like the East coast (thank goodness) but it did snow Friday night.....

Snow! A great segway into the new music discovery I found the other day on iTunes. Her name is Meaghan Smith. I think I've found a new favorite Christmas song by her that's called, "It Snowed". You can click here to go to her website and then click on "It Snowed" to listen to it. Let me know what you think of her.

MY SUNDAY ADVENTURES.........
I went to my mom and dad's place this afternoon to make pizzelles and to take Buddy (their Aussie shepard) for a walk. He's insanely in love with snow! I, on the other hand....not so much! But, you might as well enjoy it because you know it's going to be here awhile! I swear he was smiling as we were walking back to the woods.

Buddy has to stick his nose into every hole in the ground he finds.....

Typical winter sky of northwestern, PA.....

Frozen pond.....

I love taking pictures of trees, especially during during the winter. Nature's art at it's best.

The sun kept breaking throught the clouds making a dazzling diamond display on the snow.

Only about 4.5 inches. Not bad to have made it to almost Christmas and this be the first snowfall.

No birdies today. Buddy and I scared them away I guess. Buddy hates birds and tries to chase them.

It's amost here............... ho,ho,ho!

Pizzelles might very well be my favorite Christmas cookie. I have this old electric iron that was my aunt's that makes the thinnest, crispiest pizzelles you've every tasted. They melt in your mouth and cause your brain to smile and say "I need another....and another....and another". Mom and I made a batch of almond and a batch of vanilla. I accidentally dropped my camera on one bag of them and now Gary and I are eating pizzelle nibblets!

Finishing up Christmas gifts.......custom dog tags for Riley and Garrett. I've still got a lot to do but I'm not worried, it will all come together.

So, what did you do today?

Snowshoeing!

We got hammered with about 12-13 inches of snow on Friday night and Saturday morning. Bad for the roads.......good for snowshoeing! I went today to a park near my house and snowshoed for about an hour. Click here to see the kind of snowshoes I have. Now my body feels like.........hmmmm.......how can I describe it? I know.......do you remember those old washing machines with the wringer that squeezed the water out of the clothes? Well, it feels like my whole body was squeezed through one of them! I'm afraid I'm going to be one hurting puppy when I wake up in the morning. But, it was worth it to be out in the fresh air and I snapped a few pictures of the beautiful snow blanketing everything. I hope you enjoy the pics!

Every now and then "look-up", it's amazing what you might be missing!

Looks like the fence posts are wearing little white snow hats!

Just 3 more months until these tiny buds burst forth into leaves. Hope springs eternal. I've walked past these trees many, many times and never noticed the carvings in these trees....
I guess my perception was heightened due to the lack of oxygen going to my brain while snowshoeing because here's another one!
I hope you had a nice, relaxing Sunday! It's going to very cold this week with a high of 11 degrees on Thrusday and 9 degrees on Friday! BRRRRRRRRR! Stay warm wherever you are this week!

Winter has come to Pennsylvania!

It snowed on and off all week here in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Some places got a lot more snow then other places. I live about 30 minutes from my mom and dad and have about 4 inches of snow whereas they have about 7 inches. Buddy love the snow, he runs through it like a rocket, bites it and lays in it! Here he is giving me a kiss......or manybe he was trying to bite the string of my yak hat, I'm not sure........ Let it snow..........let it snow............let it snow...............

A snowy tree.........

Summer's cone flowers become puffy sculptures.....

Red barbberry bush.........

The Snow King.......
Do you have any snow where you live?
