Chocolate and Aqua: A Departure From Traditional Christmas Colors

When we think of Christmas the traditional colors of red and green instantly come to mind, however I decided to play with a popular color combo that wouldn't necessarily be associated with Christmas.....chocolate and aqua. I love to see this combo together and thought I'd create a snowman with the modern color comb. Who better to name the snow-woman with the modern color combo after than the pioneer of what we know today as "modern dance"......that would be Isador Duncan. She was a free spirted, barefoot dancer (1877-1927). Click here to see a 45 second video of her dancing. She was known for wearing long flowing scarves and tragically died in a car accident when she was riding in a convertible in the French Riveria when the end of her scarf became tangled in the wheel of the little sports car and strangled her! There are Isadora Duncan schools of dance all over the world to this day.

Isadora has been sculpted from Paperclay and painted with acrylic paints. She holds a bundle of sticks tied with an aqua satin bow. There are tiny handmade ornaments on her stick bundle. She wears a handsewn brown felt hat with a tiny brooch and ribbon on the side of it. Her aqua scarf has a slight shimmer to it. She's about 7.5 inches tall. If you'd like to welcome her into her home, she will be over at Spooky Time Jingles on December 1st.

Jonathan Frost........and an elf shoe.... Black Friday!

Things were b-u-s-y in the Honey Girl Studio today!!!!! I did not venture out into the crowded throngs of Holiday shoppers but rather sequestered myself in my studio and set to work. I got a lot done.

First let me introduce you to "Jonathan Frost", he's Jack's brother. Hmmm, what's that you say you didn't know he had a brother? Well, yes it's a little known fact, you see, Jack brings on the frosty weather but Jonathan brings the infinite variety of snowflakes. He's pretty busy as he makes everyone completely different! He's handsculpted from Paperclay, painted with acrylics and sports a hand sewn hat complete with a vintage rhinestone button. A silver bell and silver metal snowflake dangle from the tip of his creme colored felt hat. If you're interested in giving him a home, go to Jingle All The Way Home.

Now for the giveaway..........apparently there is an elf in my studio because this morning when I ventured into it I found this little felt elf shoe on my table. Cute isn't it? I filled it with Kisses to eat while I was working. So I'm giving you a chance to win this elf shoe. All that you have to do is to leave a message about what you did on this Black Friday shopping day and you'll be entered! I'll draw a winner on Sunday and post a new give away then.
Unfortunately you will not be getting the Kisses with elf shoe because I ate them all! FYI, this shoe fits 14 Kisses (I know I should feel ashamed for eating 14 Kisses.......but I'm not, is that wrong?)

Thankful For..........

Being thankful for things means putting things into perspective. Here are some things I'm thankful for this year.....

I am thankful for the taxes I pay because it means that I'm employed.

I am thankful for the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.

I am thankful for the mess to clean up after a get together because it means I have family and friends who care about me.
I am thankful for the windows I have to clean and lawn I have to mow because it means I own a house.

I am thankful for all the complaining I hear about the government because it means I live in a country with freedom of speech.

I am thankful for the shadow that watches me work outside because it means I am out in the sunshine.

I am thankful for the parking spot I find at the end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking and that I have transportation of my own.

I am thankful for my heating bill because it means my house is warm.

I am thankful for the neighbors that play their music a little too loudly because it means I can hear.

I am thankful for the pile of laundry and ironing I have to do because it means I have clothes.

I am thankful for the alarm that goes off in the early morning because it means I'm alive and have a job to go to.

Sometime blessing come in unusual packages, you might just have to look a little harder to find them.

Happy Thanksgiving friends in Blogland! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful "Turkey Day"!

Here he is giving me a kiss......or manybe he was trying to bite the string of my yak hat, I'm not sure........ Let it snow..........let it snow............let it snow...............

Snow predicted........time for a sleigh ride?

So it's going to get colder this weekend and we might see some snow! In the spirit of traveling in the snow, open air style, I created these tags. I've never had a ride in a sleigh pulled by a horse, but I'd like to give it a try someday!
